Founded in 2024, in Kumasi, MamaJo helps building up the next generation’s foundational, digital and transferable skills, in and out of schools.
Our “Why“ is the next generation.
Education is the foundation that enables children to realize their full potential and secure future prosperity. Beyond individual growth, education also drives organizational success, strengthens national economies, and fosters global stability.
Children and youth we educate today are leaders of tomorrow. Through our actions, we are supporting children and youth, but also impacting communities and contributing to a better and prosperous Ghana.🌿
Our “What” is Quality education.
Ghana has made significant strides toward improving educational access and quality, with initiatives such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy and the Ghana Accountability for
Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP) (Ankomah et al., 2005).
These reforms reflect the government’s commitment to inclusive education, further supported by international partnerships with organizations such as the World Bank and DFID. Additionally, programs like the “One Teacher One Laptop” initiative aim to enhance teacher competency, particularly in the use of digital and traditional TLMs (Aboagye & Yawson, 2020).
Despite these advancements, disparities in resource distribution between public schools, especially urban and rural schools persist, limiting the reach of TLMs. Rural schools face severe shortages of essential materials like textbooks, workbooks, and manipulatives, forcing teachers to improvise and negatively impacting student engagement.
Our “how” is learning and teaching materials
A critical element of effective education, particularly for young learners in Kindergarten and lower primary, is the provision of Teaching and Learning Materials (TLM). These materials enhance early literacy, numeracy, and cognitive development through interactive and play-based learning (Phillips, 2011).
